Yesterday St Michael's participated in our district cross country competition. The weather looked cold and miserable but actually turned out to be quite a nice day. The grade 4/5/6 participants zoomed around Clunes golf course and cheered everyone along when they weren't racing! I was particularly impressed with the persistence and dedication all runners showed. We had some pleasing results with Pippa, Noah, Ben, Ned, Alison, Chloe, Larni, Dom, Zac, George, Ella and Niamh all making it through to the next round in Ballarat in two weeks time. Check out our wonderful competitors! Thank you to all the parents that came to show their support and Mrs Gallagher for popping by to cheer everyone on! Mrs Mx Buddy Walk Thursday week two 27/04/2012
Yesterday a very excited room one planned a walk to the gardens to collect leaves and discover and appreciate God's beauty. Their room four buddies were more than happy to come for the walk and help their buddies explore the beautiful gardens. Have you been to the gardens? I know Enna has had one of her birthday parties there. So tell us... what is your favourite part of the gardens or what is the most beautiful place you have visited and why? Check out our photos below! Happy blogging Mrs M x Day One Term Two Writing Task! 16/04/2012
Hello Room Four Literacy Group (and visitors), Welcome back to term two! This term we will be finishing our work on expositions and then working on poetry (my favourite!) However, we are going to take a step back for a moment and talk about our holidays. Your writing task for today is to use Microsoft word to type about your holidays. You might like to write it as a letter, a recount, rewrite it as a narrative or you might have another great idea! When you have written it in word, checked your spelling and revised your writing to make sure it is as interesting as it can be you can then copy and paste it in as a blog comment. Everyone else is more than welcome to tell us all about your holidays; we would love to hear from you. Mrs M x Happy Easter! 12/04/2012

What an exciting week and what a great way to end the term. Our sports day was a fun day with perfect weather. The Room four and six students participated in Goldfields trials before the 3.30 whole school sports day and were great competitors. They encouraged each other I was proud of each and every one of them. As the sports day progressed later in the afternoon the participation and persistence of the entire school was to be commended. The house captains assisted to organise students and I know the Marion house captains (Noah and Ella) were outstanding! They ensured their team was ready, trying their best and marked all their teams cards- Paul and I were most impressed! While the result is not important and the aim of the day is participation and fun I would still like to congratulate Daly on their win as well as the house captains of each team on their enthusiasm and effort. Room four and visitors- tell me what was the highlight of your athletics day and why! Remember to check our footy page during the week for an update- and check back for another blog post Mrs M xx Oh So Excited! 23/03/2012
Can you hear that noise? Yes.... I think it might be.... Yes.... definately it is!! Cheering for house colours! Today all of St Michael's split into their house colours for some fun banner and poster making- led by our wonderful house captains and some great leadership from all the 5/6 's. Congratulations to Noah, Ella, Lucy, Ellie, Alison and Enna- our 2012 house captains. You can see them below talking to their teams about how they can have a great day next week! So after you have checked out our great work we have a question for you! What do you think are some things that you can do to help your team win at this year's sports day? Make sure after you comment you check out our work (on the term one page) for three excellent debates! Until next week.... Enjoy the footy this weekend (carn the crows! and the Grand Prix- let's go Webber!) Mrs M x Room Four is still busy! 09/03/2012
What a productive week we have had. We have worked on buddy grade activities and some more work on the amazing human body. I have included two slide shows to show case our work this week (also check out the term one OUR WORK page for a fantastic showcase of our creation images). The first slide show is showing us working with our buddies. Room four helped room one to pot some grass seeds in cups. We then helped them to create faces on them so when the grass grows it will look like hair. Clever idea Mrs Gallagher! The second is showing our fantastic work on the bodies organs. As a grade we put together our full size body and discussed the organs and where they go. Then we broke up into partners to put together our own body! Room four- here is your blog question to comment on.... What was your favourite learning activity this week and why? Remember to check and edit your work (maybe write it in microsoft word first and then copy it into your blog comment!) I can't wait to hear from you! Enjoy your long weekend everyone and we will see you on Tuesday! Mrs M x Hello Room Four and Six- An ICT update 03/03/2012
Hello everyone, This week Room Four and Six viewed a Cybersafety activity and began to discuss what cyberbullying is and what we can do. Their task was to email me with the main points they had remembered from the activity. I was so impressed with their responses I have included some here: Bronwyn learnt: 1 if you get a mean E-mail tell a trusted adult & act like you never got it. 2 DONT go & try to find out who sent it. 3 be respectful online nomatter who it is. I (Niamh) have learnt at least 5 things about cyberbullying. HERE THEY ARE... 1. Gossip is a type of CYBER BULLYING 2. Dont respond to the sender 3. Tell a trusted adult 4. Computers, Phones websites etc are ways you can cyber bully 5. People can pretend they are you Luka said: Cyberbullying is where some somone says mean things about you on computers or mobile phones and other things you can connect with.Cyberbulling is also where people steal your password, try to block your user and send rude comments to other people using you user. One way to stop this is to tell a trusted adult. Michael wrote: I learnt that i should not write my email address into things I dont know. I should ask a parent first before I do. If someone is bullying me I can block thier email, or report them to the webmaster. I had good fun in ICT today. I am sure you can see why I was so impressed! Well done room four and six- top notch quality comments- well done! If you would like to check out the activity to review with your child or just to check out what we are doing the link is on the ICT page of LINKS WE LIKE. <-- click on the link Looking forward to another great week- stay tuned for a house captain update! For those keen bloggers- What do you think we all need to know about how to deal with cyberbullying? Do you have some suggestions for how to deal with it? We would love to hear from you! Cheers, Mrs M x The excitement is building! 28/02/2012
